Razor bumps or razor burn are irritated bumps that develop after shaving when strands of hair curl back on themselves and grow into the skin. Males and females both suffer from razor bumps which can cause pimples and scarring. You do have multiple options to try and keep razor bumps from occurring.
- Don’t press hard on your skin while shaving.
- Before you shave you must soften the hair. Take a warm shower to open the pores.
- Make sure you change the blade or razor regularly. If you are prone to razor burn the blade you use must be sharp.
- Use a thick shaving gel.
- Don’t stretch the skin while you’re shaving.
- Always shave in the direction your hair grows.
- Do not shave an area more the once.
- When done rinse in cold water to close pores.
- After shaving apply a moisturizer to skin.
- Thoroughly disinfect the razor after use with alcohol or hydrocortisone.
